International Orders: Customs, Duties and Taxes

If you're ordering for delivery outside the UK, your order may be subject to import taxes, customs duties or other charges when it arrives in your destination country.

These charges are set by the customs authority in your country and are not included in the prices or delivery costs shown at checkout. Any applicable fees must be paid by you, the recipient, before the order can be delivered.

Customs clearance procedures vary by country and can cause delays. We're unable to control these processes or accept responsibility for any additional charges or delays caused by customs authorities.

Where Your Order Ships From

We fulfil orders from more than one location, and not every product is available from every location.

UK
Orders fulfilled from our UK site may be subject to customs duties and import taxes when shipped outside the UK.

US
A number of our products are fulfilled from our US site. Orders shipped to US addresses from this location are not subject to import customs charges.

How Import Duties Are Calculated

The section above is about whether your order crosses a border at all. Shipping from our US site to a US address, for example, is a domestic delivery, so there's no import event and nothing for customs to charge. The information below applies once an order does cross a border.

Customs authorities determine import duties and taxes based on:

  • The type of product being imported
  • The materials used to manufacture the product
  • The country where the item was manufactured (its country of origin)

Import duties are not based on the country the parcel is shipped from.

Returns and Refused Deliveries

If you return an item that was subject to customs duties or import taxes, we're not able to refund these charges, as they're collected by your local customs authority and not by us.

If customs fees are refused at the point of delivery, your order will be returned and shipping costs will not be refunded.
